　　Teaching aims:

　　Learn the new words: young, who, grandparent, old, then, beautiful

　　Learn the sentences: They weren’t old then.

　　They were very young.

　　My hair wasn’t long then.

　　It was very short.

　　Learn to express with the past tense. Compare the things in the present tense and the past tense.

　　Important and difficult points:

　　Learn to use the past tense of be.

　　Teaching steps:

　　1 說(shuō)反義詞Antonym

　　big –small, good- bad, happy-sad, fat-thin, old - young / new pay attention, old has two antonyms young / new short- long/ tall

　　2 lead –in

　　Good morning, boys and girls. Let’s see some pictures.

　　Show a picture of an egg. It was an egg then.(板書(shū)) Now it is a bird.

　　Show a picture of a boy. He was ill then. (板書(shū)) Now he is fine.

　　Show a picture of a boy. He was one year old then. (板書(shū)) Now he is nine years old.

　　用漢語(yǔ)解釋: 在含有then的句子中，我們不用is 和am，而用was, 像這些含有was的句子，就是一般過(guò)去時(shí)的句子。Clear? Let’s read the sentences together. Follow me. (領(lǐng)讀句子兩遍) let’s see another picture. Show a picture of grades.

　　We are in Grade 3 now. We were in Grade 2 then.同樣在這個(gè)句子中，我們不用are，而用were，板書(shū)is /am was

　　are were

　　e.g. they were very cute then. Now they are very naughty.

　　Can you make sentences with was or were? Who can ? put up your hands.

　　We know isn’t is the short form of is not and aren’t is the short form of are not

　　What are the short form of was not and were not can you guess? Yes ,they are wasn’t and weren’t can you do the exercises?

　　把下列句子改稱(chēng)否定句。

　　It was a bird then.

　　She was fine then.

　　He was five years old then.

　　We were in Grade 3 then.

　　It wasn’t a bird then.

　　She wasn’t fine then.

　　He wasn’t five years old then.

　　We weren’t in Grade3 then.

　　Very good.

　　Group work:

　　task 1: Take out your photos. Talk about them in groups,using was wasn’t were weren’t clear？go! Quickly!
